For-profit entities are buying up health care practices and insurers, and corporate strategies aimed at maximizing revenue have become commonplace in our hospitals and doctor’s offices. This corporatization has directly contributed to skyrocketing health care costs, double-digit premium increases, lower quality care, and rising consumer medical debt.

On October 29, 2025 Georgetown Center on Health Insurance Reforms hosted a policy briefing to discuss the impact of corporatization on costs and quality and explore bipartisan solutions that could make health care more affordable.

The event included opening remarks from Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS).

 Speakers included:

  • Linda Blumberg, CHIR
  • Celinda Lake, Lake Research Partners
  • Maya Goldman, Axios (moderator)
  • Jasmine Masand, Office of Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH)
  • Dr. Vicki Norton, American Academy of Emergency Medicine
  • Max Seltzer, Office of Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS)
  • Anthony Wright, Families USA

Support for this event was provided by Arnold Ventures.
